Ms. Mary Beth Sears Gustafson, 67, of Hartwell, peacefully passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022 at home with her loving son & daughter by her side.
Born on August 17, 1955 in Montgomery, AL, she was the daughter of the late John Sanders Sears and Mary Beth Williams Sears. Mrs. Gustafson was a graduate of Plantation High School, Plantation, FL, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell. Beth most recently retired as the secretary at the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, and prior to that, as the office manager from Broward State Attorney's Office in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Her survivors include her daughter, Megan E. Gustafson of Greenville, SC; son, Andrew J. Gustafson of Hartwell, GA; and brothers, Michael S. Sears (Cherie) of California, PA, and John S. Sears Jr. of Brooksville, FL. In addition, she is survived by several nieces and nephews and her former husband, USN Ret. Captain Andrew A. Gustafson.
Beth had a southern charm that immediately made people feel welcome. Her smile and friendly nature will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.
A Celebration of Ms. Beth Gustafson's life will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hartwell with Rev. Carter Tucker and Dr. Stuart Lang officiating. It was Ms. Gustafson's wishes to be cremated following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, 81 E. Howell St, Hartwell, GA 30643.
The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
