Mr. Bethel Thomas Duck, 91, of Will Zoellner Street, Mountain City GA, formerly of Arthur Street, Hartwell, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 at his home.
Born on March 17, 1924 in Lavonia GA, he was the son of the late Hubert Duck and Eve Belle Loftis Duck.Mr. Duck retired from Milliken-Newton Mill with 38 years of service, where he was a plant engineer.He was a member of the Mt. Olivet Church of God and attended Clayton Church of God.Mr. Duck was a WW IIU. S. Army veteran serving in the European Theater.He received three Bronze Stars, the WW II Victory Medal, a Good Conduct Medal and the European, African, Middle Eastern Service Medal.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Annie Mae Brown Duck; a daughter: Sue Conner and her husband Steve of Mountain City; four grandchildren: Kimberly Simonds, Neal Crump and his wife Nina, Trae Crump and Beth Hammond; six great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren also survive.Mr. Duck was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson: Beck Crump and four sisters: Louise Duck, Vinnie Sue Duck, Janice White and Eloise Chitwood.Special thanks to Mr. Duck's caregivers: Josie, Jenny and Loren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Wayne Durden and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Church of God Cemetery with Rev. Bryan Alexander and Military Honors.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening. The family is at their respective homes.
