Mrs. Betty Ruth Burriss, 78, of 96 W. Tate St., Elberton, died Friday, December 1, Elbert Memorial Hospital, Elberton.
Born on July 7, 1928 in Abbeville Co. SC, she was the daughter of the late John W. Burriss and Mary Sutherland Burriss. She was a retired schoolteacher for the Houston Independent Schools, Houston TX.She was a lifelong member of the Democratic Party and a formerly served on the Elbert Co. Board of Registers.
Survivors include her three sons: Stephen Breazeale of Houston TX, Rodney Breazeale and Michael Breazeale both of Calhoun Falls SC; two grandchildren also survive.She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles E. Burriss.
Mrs. Burriss wished to be cremated and a gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, December 8 between 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at her home.
