Mrs. Betty Jo (Lawrence) Carruth, age 75, of 436 Sanders Circle, Hartwell, died Friday, October 10, 2014 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.
Born May 7, 1939, in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Rosa Lee (Segars) Lawrence. She was employed at Dunlop for many years, but retired from Spring Industries. Mrs. Carruth was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons: Michael Carruth of Elberton and Freddie Carruth of Hartwell; daughters: Wanda Temples of Hartwell, Jackie Carruth of Lavonia, Debbie Milford and Ricky of Hartwell, and Sheryl Ashworth of Hartwell; brothers: Charles Lawrence of Hartwell, Bob Lawrence of Hartwell, and Eugene Lawrence of Lavonia; sisters: Faye Turner of Elberton, Evelyn Gaines of Elberton, Ann Burrell of Elberton, and Inez Holland of Hartwell; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Vernon Carruth; son-in-law: Randy Temples; brothers: John Lawrence, Billy Lawrence, and Jimmy Lawrence; and sisters: Viola Clark and Kathleen Cantrell
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2014 at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Brewer and Rev. Daniel Walters officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The family will be at the home of Jackie Carruth, 15 Rays Road, Lavonia, GA 30553.
