Mrs. Betty Adams Danford, age 76 of 216 Spencer Lane, Hartwell GA, died Saturday, November 25, 2006 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born August 27, 1930 in Wilmington, N.C., she was the daughter of the late James Madison Adams and Dorothy Mae Maultsby Adams. Mrs. Danford was a retired Registered Nurse with Dekalb Medical Center with 25 years of service. She was a graduate of Watts School of Nursing in Durham, N.C. and received her BS in Nursing from the College of Saint Francis. She was a former teacher of nursing for Anderson Memorial Hospital at Hart County Hospital, a volunteer Pink Lady at Hart County Hospital, former member of the Friendship Force of Hart County, member and Treasurer of Madora Garden Club, member and Treasurer of LGA of Hartwell Golf Club and a member of the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Danford was a member of the Hartwell First Baptist Church, and the Joy Sunday School Class, and was social chairman of the Joy Class.
She is survived by: husband, Richard D. Danford of the home, son, Jim Danford and his wife Debbie Danford of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C., daughters, Lynn Lilleston and her husband Rich of Friendswood, TX., Kim Taylor and her husband Barry of McDonough, Ga., and Lisa Bagley and her husband Ken of Watkinsville, Ga. Twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from the Hartwell First Baptist Church. Dr. Steve Williams, Dr. F. Hugh Kirby, and Rev. Carter Tucker will officiate.
The body is at Strickland Funeral Home-Hartwell Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening. The family will be at the residence on Spencer Lane. Memorials may be made to Hartwell First Baptist Church, 81 East Howell Street, Hartwell, Ga.
