Betty Joan Cape Hicks, age 79, of Eastanollee, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Hartwell Health & Rehab.
Born September 27, 1940, in Harlan, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late James Reese Cape and Bertha Iona (Rogers) Ellis. After high school, she worked in civil service for many years. She retired as a pharmacy technician with Wynn Dixie. In retirement, she enjoyed working as a volunteer for many of the school activities of her grandchildren. Mrs. Hicks was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Toby "Ted" Hicks; son: Tony Martin; and brother: Roger Cape.
She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law: Louise & Allen Kinnard and Joyce & Josh Abercrombie; sisters: Christine Swoboda, Ruth Holmes, and Ila Jean Dickson; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia.
