Mrs. Betty (Turner) Powell, age 80, of Lavonia, died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born September 23, 1934, in Loundesville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Willie & Lois (Blackmon) Turner. She worked as a caregiver and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include her daughters: Susan Tyson, Brenda Fulbright, and Patricia Little; brother: John Robert Hamby; sister: Jo Ann Greenway; seven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Gus Powell and her son: David Powell.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Hubert Carter and Rev. Ricky Bright officiating. Burial will follow in Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Monday beginning at 2:00 p.m. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Micah Little, Randall Winburn, Brenden Winburn, Gabe Fulbright, Adam Fulbright & Tommy Fulbright.
