Mr. William Franklin "Bill" Bauknight, 79, of Hartwell, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital, Lavonia.

Born on April 6, 1937 in Decatur GA, he was the son of the late John Howard Bauknight and Marie Slate Bauknight.Mr. Bauknight was a graduate of Southern Tech, a self-employed Civil Engineer and former owner/operator of Lakeside Exxon.He was a member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Iva SC and a veteran of the U. S. Army.

Survivors include his daughter: Jill Parten and her husband Bill of Royston; his son: Slate Bauknight and his wife Ginger of Canon; five grandchildren: Ben Parten, Drew Parten, Clay Bauknight, Luke Bauknight and Rebekah Bauknight.Mr. Bauknight was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Joanne Brown Bauknight and a brother: John Bauknight.

Funeral services will be Sunday, February 19, 2017, at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Jason Webb officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.The family is at the home of Slate & Ginger Bauknight, 5080 Bethany-Bowersville Road, Canon GA.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Acts 1:8 Mission Ministries, PO Box 822, Hartwell GA 30643.
