Mr. Billy Herman Dowell Sr., 64, of 128 Fleming Circle, Hartwell, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at his home.

Born on September 4, 1948 in Royston GA, he was the son of the late Lee Irvin Dowell and Juanita Saylors Dowell.He was a retired truck driver for Gold Kist Poultry, a member of the Milltown Baptist Church and a US Army veteran.

Survivors include three sons, Billy Dowell Jr., Aaron Dowell and Adam Dowell all of Hartwell; a daughter, Teresa Fleeman of Hartwell; two brothers, Dennis Dowell of Hartwell and Bobby Dowell of Canon; two sisters, Nancy Whitaker of Bowersville and Lisa Dowell of Canon; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.Mr. Dowell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Annette Sabel Dowell and a grandchild, Alijah Fleeman.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 24 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Johnny Stowe officiating.Burial will be in the Milltown Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday night.The family is at the home.
