Mr. Billy Dell Franklin, 80 of 183 Glendale Dr, Hartwell, died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens.
Born on August 15, 1930 in El Paso TX, he was the son of the late Glen Dell Franklin and Lillian Henderson Franklin. He was retired from the Michelin Tire Corporation, Greenville SC, where he worked in maintenance.He was a member of the Hart County Camp of Gideons International, a licensed Ham Radio operator and licensed private pilot.He was a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist Church, member of the Choir, Building and Grounds committee and a former SS teacher.Mr. Franklin was also retired Master Sergeant from the US Air Force, where he served in Korean War and Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Chambers Franklin of the home; three daughters, Cheryl Barber of Las Vegas NV, Debra Kennedy of Ila GA and Joyce Mosley of Roswell GA; four sons, Steven Franklin of California, David Franklin of Indian Head MD, Mike Mosley of Hartwell and Shawn Green of Hartwell; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 17 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. James Sexton and Rev. Mike Westbrook officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with full military honors.
