George William "Billy" Miller, age 82, of Martin, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 13, 2024. Born on March 14, 1942, in Stephens County, Billy was the son of the late Jim and Georgia Lee Walters Miller and the brother of the late Marion Miller. A proud alumnus of Franklin County High School's Class of 1960, Billy dedicated six years of service to the US Army Reserves. He was a skilled welder and poultry farmer.
He found joy in hunting and fishing, was known for his culinary skills, and had a particular fondness for canning. His love for travel was evident in the many trips he took with his wife, with beach destinations holding a special place in their hearts.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 60 years, Fredda Duvall Miller; their daughters and sons-in-law, Angie & Steve Cothran and Paula & Roger Carter; as well as grandchildren Leanna & Tyler Coker, Megan Cothran, and Alex Carter. Billy was also a proud great-grandfather to Hallie, Hudson, Hayes, and Harper Coker and Lennie and Bowie Cothran. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sam & Grace Duvall.
A celebration of Billy's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Clarks Creek Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Joey Stewart. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. The family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m., and at other times at their home.
