Billy Wayne Reynolds, 78, of Canon, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Brown Health & Rehab in Royston after a brief but hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born on November 18, 1947, Billy was the only son of the late Joe Neal and Willie Esther (Bill) Harris Reynolds. He was a lifelong resident of Hart County and lived his entire life on the Georgia farm where he grew up. Billy was a carpenter by trade, who worked alongside his dad building houses. He also worked in various cabinet shops, and he served as equipment manager for the group, the “Country Gents” and later the band “Still Cruising”. His last occupation was grounds keeper for Bethany Baptist Church, where he was a long-time member. Billy was known for his easy smile, his compassionate nature, and his loyalty to his friends.
He is survived by his three sisters, Wanda Franklin and spouse Richard of Huntsville, AL, Peggy Alverson and spouse Bill of Brevard, NC, and Patricia Nelms and spouse Randy of Kennesaw, GA as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his dear friend, Peggy Lovelace.
A private family burial is planned for Saturday, August 1, 2026, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with Reverend Luther Thomason officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bethany Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the Bethany community, Brown’s Health and Rehabilitation Center of Royston, GA and Affinis Hospice for the kind and compassionate care our brother received.
The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is assisting the family with all of the arrangements.
