Obituary

Mr. Billy Webb Rogers, age 84, of Canon, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Gentiva IPU at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born February 17, 1931, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late John Oliver Rogers and Maggie Eugenia (Parks) Rogers. Prior to retirement, he was a general contractor and owner of Rogers Builders. Mr. Rogers was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Ira Rogers and Robert Oliver Rogers; and sisters: Louise Gerrard, Vera Hine, Vermell Ledford, and Virginia Cain.
He is survived by his wife: Mary Elizabeth (Coker) Rogers; son and daughter-in-law: Jimmy and Patsy Rogers; granddaughter: April Rogers Lupica; great-grandchildren: Emily and John Lupica; brother: Glenn Rogers; sisters: Betty Ables and Myra Hare; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Gettis Allen officiating. A private burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 855 Gaines School Rd # G, Athens, GA 30605.
