June 15, 1936 – July 21, 2023
Mr. Bob Calaway Craft, 87, was called to be with his Lord and Savior on July 21, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving wife and children as he peacefully transitioned to his Heavenly home.
Mr. Craft was born June 15, 1936, in Hartwell, Georgia to the late Dan and Jessie Mae Craft. He served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Craft retired as a foreman from Federal Paperboard after over 30 years of service. Mr. Craft graced everyone he met with his quick wit and unique sense of humor. He never lost either of those qualities. His strength and bravery allowed him to keep his family laughing, up until his last moments. This was reflective of his need to protect his family and make sure that they were going to be fine. He was a hard worker who prioritized the comfort and security of his family, above all else. He sacrificed in many ways for his family. Rather than accepting college scholarships right out of high school, he chose to join the military to help support his mother, after the passing of his father. This generous nature was a staple of his character. He worked many hours of overtime to make sure that his family was never without. Even in his spare time, he did for others. He would take on tasks for family and friends and work in his shop until dark, finding solutions for problems that no one else could. He was a talented mechanic and loved working on and sharing his knowledge of Volkswagens. Most notably however, Mr. Craft was a family man. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Hill; brothers, Jerry Craft and Gerald Craft; son-in-law, Ernie Edenfield.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Patsy Craft; daughters, Patrice Hill (David), Laurie Edenfield and Dana Craft (Michael Wilson); son, Keith Craft; grandchildren, Patrick Hill, Casey Nguyen (Chris), Rachel Goodwin (Danny), Perry Story (Landon), Amanda Pennington (Brandon), Evan Story, Mae Craft, Connor Craft, Claudia Craft and Coehn Craft; great-grandchildren, Bryant, Luke, Anna, Dani-Rae, Wren, Calaway, Reese, Easton and Aubrey; brother, Hugh Craft (Pat); many nieces and nephews; grand-dog, Beatrice.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
