Mr. Robert "Bob" Gaines Ramsey, 79, of Ridgewood Drive, Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at his home.

Born on May 26, 1938 in Spartanburg, SC he was the son of the late Garrett C. Ramsey and Evelyn M. Willard Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves.He graduated General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan in 1961 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and was an engineer for General Motors Corporation at the Lakewood Assembly Plant for 35 years.He lived in the Stone Mountain, GA area for 30 years and retired to Hartwell, GA in 2000.He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hartwell. He will be remembered by those who knew him as a gracious, generous, quiet, unassuming man who cared deeply about friends and family.He loved life, enjoyed sports, traveling, studying history and was an avid gardener finding peace in the beauty of the outdoors and was always ready with his dry wit comments.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years: Arenda Piper Ramsey; one brother: Charles Norman Ramsey of Spartanburg, SC; nephews: Brian Ramsey and his wife Elizabeth of Monument, CO, Keith Ramsey and his wife Trish of Winchester, VA, Bruce Ramsey of Spartanburg, SC; Great nieces: Toni Parry, Danielle Ramsey both of Spartanburg, SC, Emma Lynn Ramsey of Winchester, VA and Rebekah Lynn Ramsey of Monument, CO.Mr. Ramsey was preceded in death by three brothers: Ronald Ramsey, Cecil Earl Ramsey and William S. Ramsey.

Bob's wishes were to be cremated and no memorial services will be held.
