Rev. Bobby Joe Allen, age 72, of Canon, passed from this life Saturday, September 16, 2023 at his home.

He was born October 24, 1950, in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Charles and Marjorie Carter Allen. He worked at Monroe Tenneco Automotive in Hartwell for many years, before becoming a self-employed carpenter. He loved his wife and family, but his greatest love was serving the Lord, as a minister. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: David Allen.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Bonnie Fay Chambers Allen; son: Randy Allen; daughters: Linda (Tim) Bryant and Wanda (Anthony) Pless; son-in-law: Kenneth Brown; brothers: Rev. Gettis (Peggy) Allen, Rev. Rodney (Pam) Allen, Lamar (Susan) Allen, Douglas (Sue) Allen, and Edward (Hazel) Allen; sisters: Patricia Dobbs and Joyce Bragg; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the Bowersville Church of God with Rev. Gettis Allen, Rev. Dorsey Holmes, and Rev. Ralph Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Bowers Memorial Park with Rev. Travis Pitts officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Aaron Brown, Ricky Burrell, William Fowler, T. J. Logan, Hank Williams, and Jeremiah Williams. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
