Bobby Gene Jackson, 79, of Bowersville passed away on June 26th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 30th, 1947, Bobby was a lifelong resident of Hart County.
Bobby lived life to the fullest, believing that anything was possible with a little grit and determination. He was a proud Vietnam era Marine, a drummer, a pilot, a small business owner and a mechanical engineer. He built his business, Jackson Lawn Care & Maintenance, from the ground up, all while raising three girls. He served his church, his community on the Board of Education, and his country through military service. Tinkering on and building things, rock and roll, coffee and westerns were his favorite past-times. But most of all, he loved his family and made sure they felt this every day. His favorite roles were as a husband, father, and grandfather.
He was able to travel to different parts of the world while working and serving in the military. His favorite trip still remains going out to Yellowstone and the Tetons with his family, though. He could tell you stories all day about his various adventures and accomplishments. Its a thousand wonders he didn’t meet an untimely death at a much younger age.
His relationship with the Lord shaped most of his life. After his very colorful early years, he gave his life to the Lord and was a good and faithful servant. He witnessed to others and tried to raise his daughters and granddaughters to know the Lord. He was a Gideon and deacon at Flat Shoals Baptist Church. The late Dr. Wendell Bannister, who finally broke through to him years ago, would be proud to know he made it through the pearly gates.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Donna Jackson, his mother Marie Kirkland, and his aunt and uncle, Henry and Frances Vickery who helped to raise him. He is survived by his daughters Kelly (Chris) Robertson, Kristi (Marc) Hurley and Karen Jackson, his granddaughters, Charlotte Robertson, Amelia Robertson and Cora Hurley, his sister Betty (Freddy) Lewis, his nephew Will Dickson, his niece Pam Waller, his life-long best friend Ty Thompson, and his beloved dog, Gracie.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 29th from 6-8 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 30th, at 2:00 p.m. at Flat Shoals Baptist Church with Marshall Sayer and Stanley Reed presiding. There will be no burial service as his wishes were to be cremated. Family will be at the home.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either Flat Shoals Baptist Church or Special Olympics, which was a cause close to his heart.
The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is assisting the family with all of the arrangements.
