Bobby Joe Phillips, age 84, died June 13, 2019 at his home. Born March 8, 1935, in Royston, he was the son of the late James Robert Phillips and Mary Fowler Denny. He was a boiler maker for Daniel Construction Company. He also enjoyed farming as a beef cattle and poultry grower.
Survivors include his sons, Robert Lester Phillips and wife Shala, of Lavonia, Rodney Joe Phillips and wife Amy, of Lavonia, and daughter Renee Phillips Farmer and husband Keith of Lavonia, sister Sandra Phillips Ray of Hartwell; grandchildren, Taylor McAvoy, Olivia Phillips, Erica King-Phillips, Mitch Farmer, Meghann Farmer and Scott Moore.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Annette Phillips Allen of Danielsville.
A graveside service will be held at Lavonia City Burgess Cemetery on Monday, June 17 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Gary Hulsey officiating.The family will receive friends at Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia from 9:30 am until the service hour. Donations in his memory can be made to Shoal Creek Baptist Church at 1325 Shoal Creek Church Rd. Lavonia, GA 30553.
