Bobby Gene Lott, age 84, of Lavonia, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born July 26, 1935, in Tifton, GA, he was the son of the late: O. K.Lott and Allie Mae (Moore) Lott. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and later retired from the US Department of Agriculture as Officer in Charge. He was a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Lott was formerly a member of Duluth First Baptist Church, where he served as youth director. He was an active member of the Lavonia First United Methodist Church, where he served as song leader for the early service as long as his health allowed. Mr. Lott was in charge of the Lavonia Food Bank for more than 20 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Jo Ann (Gunn) Lott; and brother: Raymond Lott.
He is survived by his wife: Linda Lott; children & their spouses: Randy & Cindy Lott, Sherry & Tony Hawk, Charlene & Brad Clower, Susan & Ivan Ruiz, Richy & Stacey Lott, and Ricky & Suzanne Brewer; sister-in-law: Helen Lott; grandchildren: Jeremy, Randy Jr., Harmony, Christian, Micki, Jessi, and Joni; and 7 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Dr. Hugh Hendrickson officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery.
Due to the current health crisis no public visitation will be held. However, for those wishing to pay respects, the body will lie in state Monday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made in his memory to the Lavonia Food Bank.
