Bobby Powell

Mr. Bobby Scott Powell, 23, of Liberty Hill Church Road, Hartwell, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Wellstar-Medical College of Georgia in Augusta GA.

Born on July 30, 2003 in Royston GA, Bobby was the son of Robert Scott Powell and Wendy Owens Powell. He was a 2022 graduate of Hart County High School and attended Athens Technical College, studying drafting.

Bobby played football from the time he was 7 years old thru High School as an Offensive Lineman. He received the Jake Award in High School. During Middle School and part of High School he also participated in Wrestling and Soccer. Bobby also, on Friday nights, helped with the 12th man ministry on the sideline of Hart County Bulldog football games.

Bobby was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church, where he participated in youth and men’s ministry activities. Bobby and his brother operated Powell’s Lawn Care, he also loved hunting, spending time with his four nephews and always looked forward to putting up the family Christmas Light for his nephews and the community to see.

Survivors include his parents: Scott and Wendy Powell; one brother: Casey Powell (Danielle) of Hartwell; one sister: Kate Beardsley (Mark) of Hartwell; four nephews: Cole Powell, Clay Powell, Junior Beardsley, Logan Beardsley and his maternal grandmother: Brenda Owens of Hartwell. Bobby was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Bobby and Paulette Powell.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bobby Powell will be Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sardis Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Elmore and Rev. Chris Pritchett officiating. Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.

The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is assisting the family with all of the arrangements.
