Mr. Bobby Marion Carter, Sr., age 59, of 5677 Highway 320, Carnesville, died Sunday, March 23 at his home.
Born November 6, 1948 he was the son of Sara Frances Carter Maye and the late Milford Carter. Mr. Carter was a maintenance man at the Flying J Truck Stop and was of the holiness faith.
Survivors include his mother and step-father: Frances and Marvin Maye of Lavonia; daughters: Lisa Elgin of Canon and Tabitha June Wilson of Hartwell; sons: Bobby Carter, Jr. of Fair Play, SC and Jerry M. Carter of Bowersville; sisters: Shirley Ann Dove of Sandy Cross, Hilda Thomason of Lavonia, Betty Brooks of Canon, and Karen Carter of Lavonia; brothers: Roy Carter of Carnesville and Kenneth Carter of Hartwell; Uncle: Joseph Lewis of Canon; aunts: Marjorie Allen of Canon and Elizabeth Barnes of Bowersville; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his father and a sister Maggie Carter.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Revs Dorsey Holmes and Wayne Thomason officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to help defray funeral expenses.
