Mr. Bobby Joe Wilbanks, age 76, of Lavonia, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at his home.
Born February 18, 1935, in Sylvester, GA, he was the son of the late Dewey and Emmaus (Sauls) Wilbanks. He was a veteran of the United States National Guard. He was a trim contractor by trade and an avid fisherman. Mr. Wilbanks was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and the Men's Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Becky (Smith) Wilbanks; son and daughter-in-law: Gregory and Janice Wilbanks; daughters and sons-in-law: Kim and Don Reed and Melissa and Brian Harris; grandchildren: Matthew and Alisha Reed, Brandon Allen Reed, Emmaleigh Nicole Harris, and Bruce Brown Harris; and brothers: James Wilbanks, Frank Wilbanks, and Bill Wilbanks.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Jason DeFoor and Rev. Jerry Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to Athens Regional Medical Center's Guest House or to Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
