Bonnie F. Starnes

Mrs. Bonnie Fay Scarboro Starnes, 83, of Hartwell, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 25, 2025 at Hart Care Center.

Born on March 9, 1942, in Belton, SC, she was the daughter of the late R.E. Scarboro and Dorothy May (Scarborough) Scarboro. Mrs. Starnes was a retired CNA for AnMed Medical Center, and a member of the Abundant Life Baptist Church.

Survivors include her two daughters: Tammy Strickland (Arnold) of Hartwell, and Gina Grant (Tommy) of Williamston, SC; five grandchildren: Eric Grant (Kristin), Brittany Welborn (Matthew), Kristen Laughter (Jason), Abbie Jackson (Jamie), and Matthew Strickland; twelve great-grandchildren: Bryce Grant, Brantley Grant, Kylie Welborn, Gaige Alexander, Kinsley Grant, Ridge Grant, Easton Laughter, Lucas Laughter, Logan Jackson, Mack Jackson, Johnathan Welborn, and Cooper Jackson; and her best friend: Pat Whitfield of Hartwell.

Mrs. Starnes was preceded in death by her parents: the love of her life: James M. Starnes; her brother: Robert L. Scarboro; her sister: Linda S. Marcus; and three best friends: Gail Herring, Nell Strickland, and Essie Ruth Bowers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bonnie Starnes will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Ken Brewer officiating. A private burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

The family of Mrs. Bonnie Starnes would like to extend their thanks to the loving staff of Hart Care Center for their excellent care, knowledge, and company that made Mrs. Starnes days brighter during her stay.
