Mrs. Brenda Joyce (Haley) Ashworth, age 69, of Hartwell, died Friday, March 13, 2015 at Hartwell Healthcare and Rehab following an extended illness.
Born August 17, 1945, in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late Coy and Julia Lois (Vickery) Haley. She enjoyed showing the love of Christ to those in need through her work in nursing home ministry. She was a homemaker and a member of Flat Shoals Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Holmes; and a brother: Johnny Haley.
She is survived by her husband: Johnny Ashworth of Hartwell; daughter: Mitzi Hawkins of Anderson, SC; sons: Pat Ashworth of West Union, SC, Tim Ashworth of Hartwell, and Kelly Ashworth of Canon; nieces: Joy Holmes and Paula Gibby; nephew: Marty Holmes; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015 at Flat Shoals Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Ashworth, Rev. Pat Ashworth, and Rev. Mike Fugate officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Ashworth will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. to lie in state. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Pat Ashworth, Tim Ashworth, Kelly Ashworth, Eddie Hawkins, Alex Hawkins, and Brennan Ashworth. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The family will also gather Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Juniper Court Community Center, 283 Nancy Drive in Hartwell.
