Mrs. Brenda June Blackwell Powell, 73, of Cedar Pond, Hartwell, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at her daughter's home.

Born on June 21, 1943 in Salem, VA, she was the daughter of the late Wallace Blackwell and Alma Wilmer Freedman.Mrs. Powell was a homemaker and a member of the Gateway Believers Fellowship in Carnesville, GA.

Survivors include her husband: John Powell; one son: Cory Witt of Anderson; three daughters: Stephanie Norton of Hartwell, Sherry Elgin (James) of Anderson, Kristy Powell of Anderson; ten grandchildren: Kyle Risner, Lindsey Norton, Jessica Brown, Brittany Holley, James Elgin, Haley Elgin, Kayce Elgin, Jonathan Watson, Kelsey Watson, Cody Watson and two great-grandchildren; three sisters: Joyce Taylor (Harry), Shirley Beverley (Buck), and Barbara Cowan (Gene).Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her parents.

A private memorial service celebrating Brenda's life will held at a later date.The family is at their respective homes.

The Strickland Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
