Obituary

Brenda Reid Reed, age 81, formerly of Lavonia, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, with her family at her bedside. She was born March 20, 1941 in Abbeville, SC, the daughter of the late James & Ellen Purdy Reid.

After graduating high school, she received an associate's degree in radiology, and worked as an x-ray technician, for a time.  She later worked as a Bookkeeper for Tri County Chevrolet until her retirement. Mrs. Reed was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was a member of the Berkeley County Senior Group. She was a very special woman that everyone loved, especially her family.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Melanie & Peter Bartow and Myra & Tribble Drake; brother: James Reid of Hartwell; sister: Ellen Pickens of Pendleton, SC; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Horace Kenneth Reed; and a sister: Jane Norris.

Mrs. Reed was cremated in accordance with her request. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow, next to her husband, in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (www.lbda.org).
