Mr. Don Broadus Evans, age 80 of 633 E. Johnson St, Hartwell, Ga, died Friday, October 10, 2008 at Hart County Hospital.

Born in Hart County, he was the son of the late Donnie Evans and Pearl Ashworth Evans. He was retired from Monroe Auto Equipment Company. Mr. Evans was member of the Oak Bower Baptist Church where was a former deacon and was known by the children of the church as the "candy man".

He is survived by his wife of the home, Mary Ruth McCannon Evans, sisters, Betty Shaw of Hartwell, Ga., and Hazel Smith of Anderson, S.C. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Howard, James and Carey Evans and by sisters, Lois Greenway, Leona Morgan and Claudine Smith.

Funeral services for Mr. Broadus Evans will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at the Hartwell Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Cleveland and Bro. Fred Greenway will officiate. Burial will be at the Memorial Garden of Prayer.
