Mr. Beverly J. "Brother" Bailey, 86, of 100 Cedar Pond Road, Hartwell, died peacefully Sunday, August 26, 2012 at his home.

Born on May 24, 1926 in Hartwell, GA, he was the son of the late Dock Bailey and Coven V. O'Barr Bailey.He retired from the Hartwell Company as the company mail carrier.Mr. Bailey was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, the McDoyle Sunday school class, and was a former deacon.He was a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge #690, VFW, and the Woodmen of the World.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Bryson Bailey of the home; one son, J. Larry Bailey and his wife Jan of Hartwell; five sisters: Launa Webb, Inez Holden, Betty Crump, Rosa Hicks all of Hartwell, and Billie Dean Hembree of High Point, NC; and one grandchild, J. Wesley "Wes" Bailey.Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jo Ann Prickett.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Joe Black and Rev. Bill McCall officiating.Entombment will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service.The family is at the home.Flowers optional, special memorials may be made to the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 2973 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell, GA30643.
