Andrew "Bud" Elrod, age 83, of Lavonia, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 15, 1938, in Franklin County, the son of the late Barney and Birdie Hendrix Elrod. He graduated from Lavonia High School in 1956 and the University of Georgia in 1961. He worked as a pharmacist for more than forty years. He was the owner of Elrod Drugs in Lavonia for many years and retired from Rite Aid. He was a veteran of the Georgia National Guard. Mr. Elrod was an avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a sports fan and a Georgia Dawg through and through. Although he had many hobbies and interests, his family always remained his greatest love. Mr. Elrod was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Jane Smith Elrod; daughter & son-in-law: Angie & Derrick Floyd; and granddaughter: Lindsey Floyd.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Dr. Larry Finger officiating. Burial will follow in Oak View Cemetery in Canon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the service.
