Mr. Francis (Bud) Crawford Payne, age 86 of 45 Walnut Street, Hartwell, Ga., died Friday, April 27, 2007 at Lake Pointe Assisted Living Center, Hartwell.

Born October 21, 1920 in Charleston, W. Va., he was the son of the late Richard Payne and Lucy Jeffers Payne. He attended Marshal College and was a retired airline pilot with Pan American then Eastern Airlines with 38 years of service. Mr. Payne is a member of Hartwell First Baptist Church, the Doc Adams Sunday School Class for 35 years and he was a member of the Hartwell Bass Club.Mr. Payne was a WW II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by: son, John "Scott" Payne and his wife Tricia of Hiram, Ga., daughter, Janet Payne Zeigler and her husband Larry of Hendersonville, TN, grandson, Travis Payne and granddaughter, Emily Zeigler. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie Hill Payne

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hartwell First Baptist Church. Dr. Steve Williams, Dr. Hugh Kirby and Rev.
