Mr. Buford Thomason, age 85, of 1605 Clarks Creek Road, Martin, died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Stephens County Hospital.
Born November 6, 1924, in Stephens County, he was the son of the late John M. & Bessie (Hendrix) Thomason. He retired from WABCO as a supervisor. Mr. Thomason was a member of the Bowersville Masonic Lodge and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Betty Nell (O'Barr) Thomason; sisters: Mary Jane Thomason & Lillie Mae Thomason; and brothers: Fletcher Thomason, Roy Thomason, Dolph Thomason, Hershel Thomason, Arthur Thomason, & Winford Thomason.
He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law: Nancy & Tommy Carlton; granddaughters: Candace Oliver and Connie Gaines; and great-grandchildren: Chris Oliver, Mackenzie Oliver, Dalton Oliver, Mylie Oliver, Haley Gaines and Jack Gaines.
The family will be at the home of Nancy and Tommy Carlton, 1606 Clarks Creek Rd. Martin and will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Thomason will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
