Mr. Burchell Martin, 78, of 224 Emory Drive, Hartwell, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at his home.

Born on November 9, 1933 in Anderson SC, he was the son of the late Floyd Martin and Cecil Wright Martin.Mr. Martin was owner/operator of Burchell Martin, Agent State Farm Insurance, which he started in 1958.He was a former member of the Hartwell Lions Club, member of the Hartwell First Baptist Church and the Doc Adams SS Class.He was a U S Army veteran and a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge #690.He was a beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather and enjoyed time with his three grandsons.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Denny Martin of the home; two sons, Denny Martin of Hartwell and David Martin and his wife Sonia of Hartwell; three grandsons, Taylor, Chase and Drew Martin; a brother, Howard Martin of Anderson SC and a sister, Peggy Brown of Anderson SC also survives.Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Haskell Martin.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 13, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Hartwell First Baptist Church with Rev. Carter Tucker and Dr. Hugh Kirby officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Monday.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday.The family is at the home.
