IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carey A.
Jackson
July 3, 1967 – September 3, 2025
Carey Allen Jackson, 58, of Hartwell, insurance executive and civic leader, passed away September 3, 2025, at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, S.C. He was born in Mobile, Alabama. Carey was a graduate of Hart County High School and the Honors College of the University of Alabama. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and a partner at Skelton-Morris Insurance Agency.
Carey was active in the community, serving as chairman of Hartwell's Downtown Development Authority for over 20 years. Under his leadership, Hartwell was named the 2023 Georgia Downtown of the Year and an Exceptional Mainstreet Community.
He was an outstanding Rotarian, serving as President of the Hartwell Club twice, as Assistant District Governor, a Will Watt Fellow, and contributor to the Paul Harris Foundation. He led a group of young leaders on the Rotary Group Exchange Program to the Caribbean for a month.
In addition to the above, Carey was passionate about sports, especially Alabama football and the game of golf. He taught both his daughters to play and served as President of the Hart County Golf Boosters as well as a volunteer assistant coach with the high school. He enjoyed hiking and one of his greatest joys was to travel with "his girls." Carey was a true example of "a life that touches others, goes on forever."
Carey is survived by his wife Allison Hall Jackson; his daughters Mary Elizabeth and Catherine Elaine; father: Elo Allen Jackson; sister: Jennifer Jackson Patterson (Mike); and brother: Jon Gregory Jackson (Shelley). He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Mary Kidd Jackson.
