Mr. Carey J. Payne, Jr, 89, of Kennesaw, GA, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Winnwood Assisted Living, Marietta, GA.

Born on September 2, 1930 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Norman Payne and Mabel Sanders Payne.Mr. Payne was the owner/operator of a Shell gas station in Roswell, GA and was of the Baptist Church. He also was a US Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War.

Survivors include one brother: Tribble Payne (Cheryl) of Hartwell; one sister: Betty Ann Lunsford (Waymon) of Canon; two caregivers: Lori Smith and Debbie Turner both of Marietta and several other nieces and nephews.Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his wife: Janette Craft Payne; his daughter: Sharon K. Payne; two brothers: Harry J. Payne, Jerry B. Payne and one sister: Sara P. Bannister.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mr. Carey Payne will be held Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Ken Brewer officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Military Honors.
