Carl Parker, age 73, of Lavonia, died Friday, November 27, 2015 at Landmark Hospital in Athens, GA.
Born April 2, 1942, in McRae, GA, he was the son of the late Andrew and Madie (Yawn) Parker. Mr. Parker retired from the US Army with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was a member of Lavonia Church of God.
He is survived by his wife: Joyce (Chastain) Parker; daughters: Melanie Ayers and Shelia Sayer; sons: Jack Parker and Mark Parker; brothers: Curtis Parker and Denver Parker; sisters: Jackie Howell and Patsy Parker; and eleven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Danny Parker.
The funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the Lavonia Church of God with Rev. Adam Tripp and Chaplain Curtis Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City - Burgess Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
