Mr. Herbert Carl Sanders, 80, of Lavonia Highway, Hartwell, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 at his home.

Born on December 10, 1940 in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Floyd Isom Sanders and Annie Mae McCoy Sanders.Mr. Sanders was a retired truck driver for the Yellow Freight Company, and a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church. He was also a US Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife: Mahala Bratcher Richey Sanders of the home; son: Brian Sanders of Anderson, SC; two daughters: Pam Hart of Carnesville and Pat Elrod of Bowman; three brothers: Harold Sanders of Anderson, SC, Boyce Sanders of Anderson, SC; and Doug Sanders of Greenville, SC; one sister: Gaynelle McAbee of Belton, SC; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mr. Sanders is preceded in death by his parents; brother: Ronnie Sanders; and a grandchild: Shelby Elrod.

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Other times the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mr. Carl Sanders will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Sean Payne officiating.Burial will be in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to the Cross Roads Baptist Church Family Life Center, 3636 Lavonia Hwy, Hartwell, GA 30643.
