Mr. Carl Gene Senkbeil, 77, of Cedar Street, Hartwell, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital, Athens, GA.

Born on September 14, 1941 in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Lloyd Senkbeil and Willie Mae Bailey Senkbeil. Mr. Senkbeil was a retired loom fixer for Newton Mills and ASR, and was a retired bus monitor for the Hart County School System. Mr. Senkbeil was also the former owner & operator of Carl's Motor Sports, and was a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church of Hartwell.

Survivors include his wife: Jeraldean P. Senkbeil; one son: Scott Senkbeil (Beth) of Hartwell; one daughter: Sherry Dobbs (Mike) of Hartwell; five grandchildren: Amanda Rutherford, Kayla Thornton, Carly Dobbs, Kody Senkbeil, Hope Senkbeil; eight great-grandchildren: Avery Sewell, Ethan Spagnoli, Knox Poole, Wakely Rutherford, Brody Thornton, Riggs Thornton, Natalie Senkbeil, Beaux Senkbeil; and one great-great-grandchild: Parker Sewell. Mr. Senkbeil is preceded in death by his parents; one brother: A.V. Senkbeil; and one sister: Emma Lee Strickland.

A memorial service celebrating Carl's life will be held on Monday, July 1, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Hugh Kirby officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.The family will be at the home.
