Caroline Marion Cutler Gates, age 73, of Lavonia, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022 at her home, after a courageous 25-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Born October 24, 1948, in Coral Gables, FL, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Clark Cutler, Jr. and Doris Bigelow Cutler. She was a 1966 graduate of Venice High School and retired as a secretary with the Georgia Department of Agriculture in Gainesville.

She is survived by her daughter: Shelly Jordan (Charlie); sister: Diane Cutler of St. Pete, FL; brother Clark Cutler (Cindy) of Commerce; grandchildren: Tiffany Patterson of Mauldin, SC, Aimee Patterson (Stephen) of Anderson, SC, Brittany Smith (Andrew) of Lavonia, Jake Smith (Brittany) of Carnesville, and Grady Jordan of Lavonia; great-grandchildren: Aimes and Brody Patrick of Lavonia, and Banks Patterson of Anderson, SC; niece: Ann Cutler (Sean), and nephew: Sam Cutler (Whitney) of Bogart.

Ms. Gates was cremated in accordance with her request. The family will receive friends at the home, 6010 West Avenue, Lavonia, GA 30553, Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. IN lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (www. nationalmssosciety.org).
