Mrs. Carolyn Holland Brown, 73, of Reed Creek Hwy, Hartwell, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens.
Born on June 28, 1943 in Royston GA, she was the daughter of the late Arnold Monroe Holland and Viola Thrasher Holland.Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Hart County High School and Forrest College.She worked in the legal field most of her career, including four years with the FBI as Squad Secretary, more than ten years as a self-employed court reporter, and retired with more than fifteen years as a Legal Assistant with the Gwinnett County Law Department.She also served her state and country by supporting her husband's 32 year career in the Georgia Army National Guard.Mrs. Brown was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartwell and the Hubert Milford SS Class.
Survivors include her husband of almost 50 years: Jerry P. Brown; a daughter: Melanie C. Brown of Glendale AZ; a son: John P. Brown of Chicago Il and two brothers: Hugh Doyle Holland and Donnie Holland both of Hartwell.Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents and a brother: Charles Holland.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 9 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Dr. Steve Albanese and Rev. Carter Tucker officiating.Burial in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday night.The family is at the home.Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, 81 E. Howell Street, Hartwell GA 30643.
