Carolyn Roberts Herndon, age 91, of St. Augustine, FL, residing at The Veranda (Carnesville, GA), passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022, at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia, GA.

Born February 25, 1931, in St. Augustine, FL, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Martha Taylor Roberts. After her primary education, she continued her educational endeavors until she earned a Bachelor's of Art Degree. Her life's mission was helping the deaf community to live the fullest life possible. She often interpreted for job interviews or at the bedside of a young mother giving birth. She taught sign language to many. She retired from the Palm Lake Baptist Association as the Director of Ministries to the Deaf. After retirement, she became an avid gardener and bird watcher, and she loved the challenge of putting puzzles together. Mrs. Herndon was a member of Johns Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children: Linda Abufaris (Ed), Carl Herndon (Bertha), and Eddy Herndon (Cynthia); grandchildren: Sarah Logan (Scott), Christina Byerly (Stephen), Candice Bouschor, Jason Herndon (Brittnay), Kyle Herndon (Meagan), and Hannah Weildon (Brit); and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Eugene Gilbert Herndon; and sister: Betty Hunter.

Mrs. Herndon was cremated in accordance with her request. The family will plan a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery in St. Augustine at a later date.
