Mrs. Catherine Turley Whalin, 88 of Hartwell, formerly of Louisville KY, died Sunday, September 21 at Hartwell Health Care Center.
Born on May 27, 1920 in Rockport KY, she was the daughter of the late Robert Turley and Mabel Moore Turley.She attended Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green KY and was a homemaker.She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Dixie Post #220, where she was a past-president, past vice-president and a former treasurer.
Survivors include her daughter: Debbie Thornton of Hartwell, a sister: Martha Pauly of Tehachape CA; a granddaughter: Amber Elizabeth Castleberry of Cumming GA and two great-grandchildren: Ella Beth & Landon Castleberry.She was preceded in death by her husband: Henry Whalin; a brother: Harold Turley and a sister: Nancy Salmon.
A private memorial service will be held at a late date by the family.Memorials may be made to Hartwell First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 200 E. Howell St., Hartwell, GA30643
