Mrs. Catherine Marie "Cathy" Scalici Hanneken, 76, of Hartwell, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023 at her home.

Born on March 22, 1947 in Staten Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late Simone Scalici and Madeline Festa Scalici. Mrs. Hanneken graduated with a Bachelors Degree from St. John's University in New York, NY, and then was a human resource manager for EBASCO/Raytheon. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church where she was active with Ladies Circle and St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was also a member of the YMCA, and she volunteered for Friends of the Hart County Library, Hart County Clothes Closet, and the Art Center of Hartwell.

Survivors include her husband: Jerry Hanneken of Hartwell; step-son: Dr. Todd Hanneken (Dr. Rhodora Beaton) of San Antonio, TX; step-daughter: Julie Linza (Jim) of Vienna, VA; two brothers: Anthony Scalici (Sydney) of Cooperstown, NY, and Michael Scalici of Bandon, OR; two sisters: MaryLu Cintula (Pete) of Manalapan Township, NJ, and Barbara Scalici of Staten Island, NY; two step-grandchildren: Caroline and James Linza; 6 nieces, 3 nephews. 5 grandnieces and 5 grandnephews.

Cathy wished to be cremated and a Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Tuan Nguyen and Deacon Barry Phillips officiating. Her ashes will be interred in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Memorial Garden following the service. A reception will be held in the Founder's Hall following the interment.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Art Center of Hartwell, P.O. Box 413, Hartwell, GA 30643, or the St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 1009 Benson St, Hartwell, GA 30643.
