Ms. Cathy Annette McKenzie, 55, of Union Hill Church Road, Bowersville, passed away Friday, June 28, 2019 at her home.

Born on July 25, 1963 in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of Condle D. McKenzie and the late Mary Kitchen McKenzie. Ms. McKenzie attended school in Clayton County Georgia then graduated from the University of Georgia.Cathy was a Nurse and a former middle school teacher at Madison Co. Middle School for 9 years and Hart Co. Middle School for 10 years.

Survivors include her father: Condle D. McKenzie of Bowersville, GA; two brothers: Devoy McKenzie, Jr. (Laura) and Michael McKenzie, all of Pensacola, FL; two nephews: Brian McKenzie and David Powell; and one niece: Elizabeth McKenzie. Ms. McKenzie is preceded in death by her mother; and one brother: Marion McKenzie.

The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Other times the family will be at the home.

A memorial service celebrating Cathy's life will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. William Kitchen, III officiating.

In honor of Cathy's love for animals, memorials made be made to the Hart County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1062, Hartwell, GA 30643.
