Mr. Cecil John King, age 85, of Carnesville, died Friday, March 11, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens.
Born August 26, 1930, in Lawrenceville, he was the son of the late Eliga and Minnie (Davis) King. Mr. King was a retired self-employed heating and air conditioning technician. He was a US Army Veteran and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.
He is survived by daughter: Wanda Thomas; sons and daughters-in-law: Paul and Donna Mincey and Chris and Elizabeth King; grandchildren: Dustin Mincey, Dylan Mincey, Cecile Thomas, Kristy Hodges, Hunter King, Anna King, and Lily King; seven great-grandchildren and a brother: Marvin King. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Martha Annette (Davis) King.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Leonard Young, Rev. Randy Pointer, and Rev. Leon Carson officiating. Burial will follow in Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and following the service Sunday for a meal at Lavonia Community Center.
