Mr. Charles W. Campbell Jr, 90, of Hartwell, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021 at his home.

Born on October 17, 1930 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Charles W. Campbell Sr. and Dorris Ayers Campbell.Mr. Campbell was a graduate of Clemson College (now Clemson University), Class of 1954, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Mr. Campbell began working for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Systems on August 23, 1954 and worked there for 60 years. He helped to manufacture, modify, and maintain United States Air Force aircraft, including the B-47 Stratojet, C-130 Hercules (which has been in continuous production at the plant since 1955), the C-140 Jetstar VIP transport, and the C-141 Starlifter and C-5 Galaxy intercontinental heavy transports.Mr. Campbell was also a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

He is survived by a cousin: Cullen Campbell of Hartwell; and caregivers: Dorothea Singleton, Cierra Jones, Tonika Glenn, and Winston Hailey, all of Hartwell. Mr. Campbell is preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Aurelia Campbell and his infant sister: Vinnie Elizabeth Campbell.

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Campbell will be Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Burial will be in the Northview Cemetery, Hartwell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hartwell, 81 E. Howell Street, Hartwell GA 30643 or to the charity of one's choice.

The family would also like to thank Amedisys Hospice, its nurses and caregivers, for the care and support they showed during the final weeks of Charles and Aurelia's lives.
