Mr. Charles Edward Dickerson, Sr, 83, of Bowman Hwy, Dewy Rose, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022 at Hartwell Health & Rehab.
Born on July 25, 1938 in Royston, GA, he was the son of the late Florence Thomas Dickerson and Ruby Jessie McGarity Dickerson. Mr. Dickerson retired from the United States Postal Service after 43½ years, and he was a former US Army Corporal. He was also a member of the Amazing Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son: Eddie Dickerson of Dewy Rose; two daughters: Renae Pierce (Leon) and Ann Campbell (Doug), all of Dewy Rose; one sister: Barbara Dickerson of Vanna; a friend he treated like a sister: Sherry Burns of Vanna; four grandchildren: Brandon Pierce (Brittany), Scott Pierce, Adam Campbell (Trina), Ashleigh Usrey (Dacota); six great grandchildren: Gabriel, Aidyn, Briella, Anna, Easton, Eden; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Dickerson was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Hilda Caudell Dickerson; and one brother: Jack Dickerson.
The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Other times the family will be at their respective homes.
It was Charles's wishes to be cremated and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Pierce officiating.
