Mr. Charles H. Gibson, 74, of 560 Sunset Road, Canon, GA died Monday, January 9, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospice House in Athens.
Born on January 11, 1937 in Elberton, GA, he was the son of the late Grady Gibson and Eula Mae Gibson.He was a retired machine operator for Monroe Automotive, a member of Bethany Baptist Church, a former Sunday School Teacher and Deacon.Mr. Gibson was also a US Army Veteran.
Survivors include two sons: Brian and his wife Glenda, of Hartwell, and Stephen and his wife, Kathy, of Dacula; two sisters: Jan Adams and her husband George of Hartwell and Shirley Reed and her husband Wallace of Cumming; and three grandchildren:Dustin Gibson, Summer Gibson, and Michael Gibson.He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Mary Catherine "Cathy" Gibson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Jerry Durham officiating.Burial will follow in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Wednesday.The family is at their respective homes.Floral arrangements are optional and special memorials may be made out to Bethany Baptist Church, 2085 Bethany Road, Hartwell, GA30643.
