Mr. Charles Edwin Hyde Sr. 74, of Doyl Road Bowersville, died Thursday January 16, 2014 at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens GA.

Born on August 30, 1939 in Carnesville GA, he was the son of the late Johnny Hyde and Magnolia Corn Hyde.Mr. Hyde was retired from Private Line Industries in Bowman, where he was a Sewing Machine Mechanic. He was a member of Serenity Baptist Church, loved his work, enjoyed farming and hunting.

Survivors include his wife: Brenda Freeman Long Hyde; two sons: Edwin Hyde of Carnesville and Brandon Hyde of Bowersville; two daughters, Barbara Carey of Royston and Kim Carey of Carnesville; a step-daughter: Rhonda Long of Bowersville; four brothers: Johnny Hyde, Roy Hyde & Ernie Hyde all of Carnesville and Coy Hyde of Hartwell; a sister: Louise Hyde of Carnesville; nine grandchildren: Candance Hammick, Dustin Segars, Brooklyn Segars, Corey Segars, Daniel Hyde, Sarah Hyde, Brittany Graham, Summer Graham & Madison Frankum; five great-grandchildren: Kelsey Fowler, Dawson Hammick, Dallas Segars, Lane Segars & Blaze Segars.Mr. Hyde was preceded in death by three brothers: Joe Hyde, David Hyde & Bob Hyde and a step-daughter: Becky Long.

Funeral services will be Sunday, January 19 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Joey Pless & Rev. Jack Evans officiating.Burial will be in the Franklin Memorial Gardens – North, Lavonia.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m... The family is at the home.
