Charles Duncan Mewborn, age 91, passed away on Saturday, November 15th at Hart County Hospital. Born December 11th in Hart Country, he was the son of Otis William and Leila Ada Duncan Mewborn.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rebecca, daughter Kim, two brothers and three sisters.
Retired as Manager of Federal Land Bank and later as a local Realtor, he was a member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church, Methodist Men's Club, Wallace White Sunday School Class, and was a former member of the Administrative Board.He was a member of the Hartwell Kiwanis Club for over 60 years, and as a Chamber of Commerce member represented Harwell with their "Stay and See Georgia" exhibit in Atlanta.A graduate of the University of Georgia, he enjoyed attending UGA events, gardening, driving his Corvette, and spending time with his family.He shared his love of football, traveling and nature with his family, as well as his sense of humor and his zest for life.
Survivors include his wife Mary Lou of the home, daughter Rhonda of Lithia Springs, GA, son Richard and wife Beth of Naperville, IL,and five grandchildren – Eli Grizzle, currently deployed on the USS Hampton, United States Navy; Tyler Grizzle of Lithia Springs; Carla Mewborn of North Potomac, MD; Andrew Mewborn of West Lafayette, IN; and Taylor Mewborn of Naperville, IL.
Funeral Services will be at 11 AM on Monday, November 17th at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
