Mr. Charles Alphus Ray, 83, of Flat Shoals Road, Bowersville, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at his home.

Born on September 19, 1932 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Clarence Oscar Ray and Susie Adams Ray. Mr. Ray was a retired Tool and Die engineer of thirty eight years for Monroe-Tenneco Automotive.He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. Mr. Ray was also member of The Sunshine Club and served on various church committees.

Survivors include his wife: Mollie Ridgeway Ray of Bowersville; his son: Charles Ray and his wife Paula of Hartwell; his daughter: Melinda Robertson and her husband Jim of Canon; one brother: Francis Ray of Bowersville; five grandchildren: Terry Massey, Jeremy Massey, Jessica Laverdiere, Tiffany Bruce, and Ryan Ray; eight great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Suzhannah, Hunter, Corbin, Daphne, Dayne, Kaleigh, and Devin.Mr. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; Clarence Oscar Ray and Susie Adams Ray, and one sister: Alice Leighton Gurley.

Funeral services will be Sunday, May 29, 2016, at 3:00 pm at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Sean Payne and Rev. Ben Coleman officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Rev. Connie Mack Bowers officiating.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening.The family is at the home.Flowers appreciated, memorials may be made to the Cross Roads Baptist Church Family Life Center, 3636 Lavonia Hwy, Hartwell, Georgia 30643.
